OUR RESPONSE TO COVID-19: AN UPDATE FROM AVANGRID'S NATIONWIDE EFFORTS

As the novel coronavirus began threatening our operations here in the United States, we sprang into action, volunteering to give important aid to those in need in our communities. AVANGRID and the Avangrid Foundation are investing $1 million each to support the coronavirus response and recovery in our service territories, with $350,000 going to Maine and New York, and another $300,000 being divided between Massachusetts and Connecticut.

HOW WE CREATE RELIABLE AND ENVIRONMENTALLY-FRIENDLY ENERGY

As part of our commitment to provide safe and reliable service to our customers, Rochester Gas and Electric (RG&E), an AVANGRID company, is making a significant investment to upgrade the electricity transmission system in the Rochester region. The project, known as the Rochester Area Reliability Project (RARP), sprawls about 27.6 miles across western New York through the towns of Chili, Gates and Henrietta, as well as the City of Rochester.

THE ENDANGERED CALIFORNIA CONDOR: THE AVANGRID FOUNDATION SUPPORTS A SUCCESS STORY IN THE MAKING

Sadly, California condors are critically endangered. The condor population dwindled to just 27 in the mid-1980s due to habitat loss, poaching, and lead poisoning. The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service began an aggressive recovery program in 1987: wild condors were brought under human care at the Los Angeles Zoo and San Diego Wild Animal Park to support their breeding and recovery.
