Meet Steve B., an EHS (Environmental, Health & Safety) specialist in Mason City, Iowa working with Avangrid Renewables. Steve nominated My Happy Place/My Happy Haven after getting to know a special family whose child experienced a room transformation through My Happy Place while being treated for a long-term illness. The organization creates and transforms bedrooms into oases where chronically ill children (My Happy Place) and women in treatment for cancer (My Happy Haven) can find hope, harmony and health.

Steve talks about how being a dad and a specialist in health and safety makes him really value the work MHP/MHH does in improving overall health and wellness, especially having experienced chronic illness in his own family. We also meet the indomitable Lisa Tan, a true change maker and co-founder of MHP/MHH in Mason City who now brings together dedicated community volunteers and donors across three states to transform homes and lives at the same time. Thanks to Lisa’s determination, the #AVANgives grant will sponsor two room makeovers this year!
